Below is a list of wines I have sampled. I included
the information of vineyard, type of wine, where the wine was crafted,
vineyard's description and my personal impression of the wine.
Please note: For optimal flavor from all wines, let it breathe for
about half an hour before drinking. It allows the wine to oxygenate.
Vineyard: Pascual Toso
Type: Cabernet Sauvignon.
Where: Venazuela
Description: This wine possesses rich layers of coffee, cedar
and vanilla enhanced by thick layers of cassic over oak. Medium to
deep red in color, it finishes with good length and entices the pallate
for more. To be enjoyed with strong cheeses, red meat dishes, and
pasta.
My Impression: A very full bodied wine. It is best served after
uncorked and let sit for about half an hour. Very delicious if you
care for a full bodied wine. It sits well on the tongue and leaves
a crisp and refreshing after-taste on the tongue begging for another
sip.
Vineyard: Nederburg
Type: Caberbet Sauvignon
Where: South Africa
Description: A truly cosmopolitan wine, made from cool climate grapes,
seamlessly splices the rich flavours of wild berries, chocolate and
mocha with a touch of wood.
Vineyard: Beringer
Type: Alluvium Blanc
Where: Knights Valley
Description: Alluvium Blanc is the name given to [Beringer's] proprietary
blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier. This
wine was handcrafted by Winemaker Ed Sbragia and aged in French oak
barrels for eight months.
Vineyard: Sutter Home
Type: Pinot Grigio
Where: Napa Valley
Description: Sweet flavors and aromas of white peach, melon, citrus,
and tropical fruits accented with a pleasant, floral note. Light-to-medium
bodied on the palate, and round in texture. A versatile pairing to
many cuisines, including Mediterranean, Italian, seafood, cheeses,
and spicy Latin and Asian fare.
Vineyard: Duck Walk Vineyards
Type: Chardonnay
Where: Long Island, NY
Description: Very fruity with crispy and citrussy aromas, pineapple
and pear. In the palate, a refreshing acidity wonderfully balances
the body of this wine. Pairs well with most shellfish, poultry and
white meat in general.
My Impression: Crisp taste with a fruity after-taste. The flavor of
pears do resonate on the tongue afterwards. The taste is awkward,
but feels rewarding. I would recommend this wine with poultry dishes
that have a heavy taste to it since the wine is very light.
